– Sold OutWith metal prices being what they are, I debated whether or not to make these earrings - and putting together rare, not inexpensive gems together in such an array with solid silver backings and solid gold was another consideration. Even though the gems were purchased in-person at Tucson, pre-tariff, y’all know that I don’t skimp when it comes to quality.
Obviously, the earrings got made because I do this thing with my heart and soul to make art, full stop. The income from a sale is lagniappe. Not to say that I don’t need the money - of course I do, but if I begin with that thought in mind, the creativity is immediately quashed. The joy of creation is muted, and the excitement at finishing such a pair wouldn’t exist.
Rare and wonderful freeform rosecut chatoyant grey quartz looks like rust on wet stone, hematite inclusions in the deep red copper stars create a lovely contrast, and the moody dendritic quartz round out the trio with flashes and golden tones.
14K yellow gold connectors and accents, Sterling and fine silver settings, 2 7/8” total length.
