Ammonite and Ammolite Earrings

I found these wonderful, slim ammonites inlaid with pyrite at a fantastic vintage shop. They were poorly set in bezels that were too low for the fossils, and were chunky and heavily set over back sheet. Cute, but these 66 million year old creatures deserved a little more reverence.

In Tucson, I found an ammolite vendor with the most exquisite stock - one of the only vendors in Canada permitted to source the material, and the only one I’ve ever seen with such bright beetle-green tones in matched pairs.

So, a fossil mashup, inside and outside of the same creature, shell and skeleton.

Set in fine and Sterling silver with 14K yellow gold connectors and ear wires. 2 3/8” inches total length and 5g each.
