Indicolite Tourmaline and Tourmaline in Matrix Necklace

When I received the first parcel of this tourmaline in matrix from my cutter, I initially planned to keep this piece as part of my forever collection of gems, it being so perfectly special.

And then it started to snuggle with this delicious lollipop-blue-colored indicolite tourmaline cabochon in my gem tray, and the match was made. Then… I didn’t want to make the pendant because I felt guilty using so much gold and silver, so it sat and sat.

Welp, that was months ago, and in the spirit of resistance, I decided to go on and let this piece become what it was destined to become: an ode to tourmaline, silver, and gold, in all their combined glory.

8.42 Ct. tourmaline cabochon set in a 22K yellow good bezel with a 38 Ct. freeform tourmaline in matrix set in fine silver on a Sterling frame textured with 14-18K yellow gold dust fused to its Florentined surface. The gem is set over a luminous piece of mother of pearl, whose golden glow is visible from the reverse. There’s a 22K yellow gold bead accent and my 14K yellow gold integrated bail.
