Oh man, these were fun to make… Snakeskin wrasse is the fossilized mouthplate of a fish, aptly named. They’re generally cut kinda funny, so I had to involve a bit of creative trickery to make the settings, which always makes me squeal with childlike glee while at the bench. I love the way the frame turned out, soft and sculptural, and not intrusive.
Below them are some sparkling champagne and salt and pepper drusy set in 22K yellow gold bezels, and then grassy drops of rare actinolite in quartz.
The textures of the trio are so distinctively beautiful and unique that these are a fitting last pair for me to have created for 2023. Having fun with weirdo gems and making them have what my dear friend Jessica calls ‘color conversations’ is absolutely my jam, the cost of the materials be damned.
14K yellow gold connectors and ear wires, 3 1/4” total length. They sway beautifully at only 6g each.
